DESCRIPTION:Der Online-Workshop findet in englischer Sprache statt. \nInvitation of the organizers\nWhat happens when countries spend more on repaying their debts than on essential sectors like education and healthcare? \nThis alarming reality affects many nations in the Global South\, where over 50 countries are currently in a debt crisis. Despite growing global challenges and rising poverty\, these countries continue to accumulate debt. But why is this happening? What role do the policies and decisions of industrialized nations play? \nIn 2022\, emerging and developing countries spent a record-breaking $443.5 billion on servicing their external debt — more than twice the amount they allocated for their combined health and education budgets. At the same time\, 135 out of 148 countries in the Global South find themselves in critical debt distress.
